Why is it all these creepy crawler movies show the parasite going into the mouth of the victim? That is the worst place for a parasite to go. If it travels into the gut it has to contend with gastric acid and it looks like to me most of these slithery things don't look like they would survive gastric acid. In order to control a host, they would need to inhabit the brain, and it is hard to do that from the throat or stomach. In make much more sense that the parasites would go through the nose into the nasal cavities where it has better access to the brain. In real life, parasite do travel from nasal cavities into the brain, so this makes much more sense then going into the mouth. The one in the finger is plausible if the parasite got into the bloodstream and was able to cross the blood-brain barrier.
