Shows like Regular Show are so important. As the viewers matures, it forces them to realize the characters they once aligned with maybe aren't the people they want to be anymore. The introspective that comes with character analysis is valuable and a good measure of personal integrity. I always thought Mordecai was the coolest when I was younger, but as an adult, I can see that he's definitely the biggest loser in the entire show.

I think the reason Mordecai seems so cool at the beginning and gets worse throughout the series- other than the romance drama stuff- is because Rigby was so awful in the first season and slowly became better while Mordecai never really evolved as a character.

I can understand why Modercai acts like that in lift with your back and Rigbys Graduation. Just think, you're in a dead job with your best friend who won't be employed without you, has got you into trouble on more than one occasion and sabotaged your college career because he didn't want to leave you. Modercai has a superiority complex over Rigby. He always liked how he was better than, and Rigby, the thought of him being is equal. Scared him as Rigby was moving forward in his life while Modercai was stuck in a rut.
