1:15 It's VERY faithful to the games both from a art direction standpoint but also the tone, satire, and writing as well. Even the Pipboy sound effects are from the games so it really feels like a Fallout game in live action. They did mess around with Live Action before for example Fallout 3 had really cool 1950s inspired Vault Tec advertisements that were live action mixed with animation to advertise the Vaults. And the intro to Fallout 4 is also live action as well but it's so cool seeing it fully in a show.
Fallout has been around since 1997 and has changed hands a few times but I feel like the show does a great job at pulling from everything Fallout both old and new. Pretty much the everything within this show looks pulled right out of the games and they nailed it all from the vaults to the iconic Vault Dwellers, posters, retro futuristic tech and weapons, and of course the power armour all looks amazing.
Something I also love is how this show is NOT an adaptation of any of the games but an original story set within the Fallout universe. Taking place in 2296 just 10 years after Fallout 4 which was set in The Commonwealth, former state of Massachusetts and Boston. The TV series is set on the West Coast around L.A moving back to the West Coast the setting of the first two Fallout games. Fallout 1 was set in Southern California with L.A being a city you could visit on the overview map but that was set in 2161 so around 120 years before the TV series. The latest game in the series set on the West Coast was Fallout New Vegas (2010) set in 2281 around 15 years before the events of this show so closer in timeframe to that.
But the show does a great job at being friendly to people going in with zero insight into this universe while also being rewarding for fans of the series from mentions of the Commonwealth by the Brotherhood of Steel the last time we saw the group in Fallout 4 (Boston/Commonwealth) to the Enclave, Mister Handy robot at the beginning, Nuka Cola, etc.
Timeline:
Great War - 2077
Fallout - 2161
Fallout 2 - 2241
Fallout 3 - 2277 - 200 Years after Great War
New Vegas - 2281
Fallout 4 - 2287
Fallout TV - 2296

Fallout takes place in a parallel universe where the timeline went in a significantly different direction after World War 2. Some technologies advanced significantly while others didnt. This is why they are still using film cameras and the TV is in black and white. The opening scene takes place on October 23rd, 2077 which is the day the bombs dropped. Some people in this universe when irradiated become ghouls. The skin takes on a burned look and the noses also come off (Wasnt cut off). Ghouls are effectively immortal, but over time the brain will begin to deteriorate and they go feral. (basically zombies)

12:28 I don't believe this is ever explained in the show, it's more of a fun easter egg if you've played the games. The thing that Raider inhaled is a chem/drug called "Jet"; the gameplay effect of it changes throughout each of the games, but generally it's a highly addictive drug that gives the user a big euphoric rush for a short period of time.

@2:40 There is a video from "Kyle Hill" here on YouTube who debunked the "rule of thumb".
@17:50 There are over 120 vaults all over the US according to the games.
@35:40 They didn't went into the vaults in the 1950s, the nuclear war happened in Fallout lore in 2077. The reason why it looks like the 1950s is, the Fallout series went with a retro-futuristic approach. They picked up sci-fi ideas and illustrations from the 1950s and made it part of the lore.

The show does a good job at mimicking the feel of the games which non-players may not pick up on. Like in the beginning, Lucy was literally telling us her character stats and perks. The games have stats called SPECIAL (Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence. Agility, and Luck) in which points go into to form the character, and there are a slew of perks to choose from that focus on a certain skill sets (like weapon use or repair skill). In the game, you might have a skill check to determine if you can do something (like a Charisma check to see if you can persuade somebody to give you needed information--so the higher your Charisma, the better the chance of success is).

For reference, the end of the world in this universe (so to speak) was called The Great War and occurred in 2077 and lasted a couple of hours and was ignited due to tensions between the US and China who were both fighting the Resource Wars because natural resources were almost depleted. The Fallout universe is very much like ours but there was a divergence because the transistor was not invented and the 1950s culture was maintained well into the future of that universe -- so a lot of their tech is run on vacuum tubes, etc. It's a version of what our 1950s thought the far future would look like. Their tech was making more advances just before the bombs dropped.

They really found one of the most adorable actors to play Janey and just shatter your heart with a few lines, didn't they?
