Storms mother is Kenyan and her father is America where she was born in Manhattan. When she was 5 they moved to Cairo where there was a conflict between Arabs and Israeliès. A downed plane crashed into their home leaving her buried with her dead mother. Which resulted in her fear of enclosed spaces (Claustrophobia)

Gladiator (the purple flying mohawk guy) is the commander of and often a stand-in for the Shi'ar Imperial Guard. He's basically Marvel's homage to DC's Superman, with his superhuman strength, flight ability, physical invincibility, and eye lasers.
