I remember the first time I listened to this song,a huge fight between my (then) best friend and I had happened. That was the start of the relationship turning toxic and I was dragged through a hell of a year. That argument started a downward spiral into a toxic relationship between us. I first listened to this song waiting in the vet parking lot, to be back a month later to pick up my dogs ashes. A little after that I had a nervous breakdown and then not even a month after that, I was in the icu for three days and could've died. (From something totally unrelated) through all that i was dealing with the toxic relationship and was in an awful place. Admittedly, I hated this song for the longest time and couldn't help but think of her when I heard it. For the 3 quarters of 2023 I was in shambles. But by the last quarter,I started taking care of myself and improved. I got to travel and leave the country for the first time, rescue another dog, who has helped immensely, and I finally established healthy relationships and boundaries. I'm not the same person I was in 2023. We're starting 2024 and the person this song reminds me of does not have the same hold on me as before. Listening to this song finally feels good. It still reminds me of the bad, but also how I've overcame it. I know nobody will likely see this,or even care but I hope 2024 can be a good year for others as well. A year of good fortune, good health, and a year where all of us can learn and grow for the better. Best wishes everyone! <33
