I'm super confused. I've been using Logic Pro since 2020 and have never even stumbled across the functionally you've described. I'm sure part of that is that I don't generally arm the track until I'm ready to record, but I often forget to disarm the track... Maybe it's because I'm using more live instruments than software ones?
I don't even think I'm on the most current version. I'll have to take a look.

I'm on 10.7.8 and this doesnt happen to me. I'm new to Logic but like you said, I just never click the R button when trying out instrumentes and when I am ready to record, I just press R and do so on the track I want to record on. I don't feel anything changed in my workflow in this update - was I somehow recording "wrong" before?

My work got stopped dead now by Logic Pro and the erm multi clock with itās plug in. All my old projects are now running out of time and the new ones with 10.8 donāt reflect the tempo in the tool bar with my clock so I canāt use my stuff in the studio until I can get both working again ( every thing in the studio is synced with apogee that actually is frame accurate )so anything with jitter issues or that is not frame accurate means no work for me until it gets fixed. I woke up with all white hair todayšš½

This really screwed me up and almost made me go deaf.
I used to record audio with headphones on to stop feedback and then when done, click off the input track to disarm it, and then enable monitors.
I had no idea this functionality had changed and got zapped by the most ridiculous feedback shriek. Left ear was deaf for hours.
All because of this simple, enforced change.
Would be great if we had the option to keep legacy functions. Old dog, new tricks and all that.

thank you for this video! would you consider doing a video on the new 'Record Automation with Midi Regions' that is now automatically checked and seems to write region automation even if you're not trying to. (Logic 10.8.1) i feel maybe this is a similar change where a little explanation will show that its not terrible and just requires a slightly tweaked workflow? here's hoping! Thanks!

It gets even clunkier when recording audio with the yellow "I" Input arming on I'm use to it automatically going into Record mode when hitting the star Key. Now I have to actually Arm the "R" for it to start recording audio. This messes me up in the heat of the moment during a fast paced record session.

Thanks for this! I spent hours trying to figure this out after updating to Logic 10.7.9.
