I remember once being in a rehearsal studio playing with a band and Rick coming in to say hello, I was a little wowed as I grew up like so many with him being so massive at the time. He was so humble, kind and genuine. You couldnāt have met a nicer bloke. He was going to come to a gig but said he didnāt want to spoil our cred. I felt a bit sad that he felt that way, he deserves a lot more respect than he gets.

Rick's always been cool. I left school in '89 and there was this one lad who looked just like Rick, 100% spitting image, he did his hair like Rick and we all called him Rick. He liked it, we liked it, nobody called him Rick as an insult, we all thought it was great that he looked like Rick. Rick Astley has always been a legend, and the whole rick-roll thing, it's just a laugh, not a reflection on Rick himself, or what people think of him. Practically any song video could have been used instead to make the joke, Rick was never the joke, the joke was people didn't get what they expected. Rick's a legend and that song is legendary. Gotta respect Rick for stepping out of the business to benefit his family life too.
