Fun fact. Melanie is an Alto. And my music teacher told me I canāt sing well because Iām alto. My music teacher would never let people see an alto because she also does choir. So I sighed up and I was in choir. But when we had to sing Christmas carols. I had sung a Christmas carol really well. And all I got was to stand behind the piano and say āDiNg DoNg DiNg DoNgā
Edit: Thank you so much for the likes! And I forgot too say that my music teacher would put altos behind the piano so they couldnāt be seen.

The Crybaby album tells a story if you listen in order. In fact, there's a storybook too!
Crybaby- The character is born. She has a big heart, but she's already feeling damaged at a young age because the people around her don't care.
Dollhouse- You hit the nail on the head with this meaning. She's still kind of young and is observing the chaotic life of her family.
Sippy Cup- "What goes down in the kitchen" from Dollhouse is the main issue here. Her mom gets sick of her dad constantly cheating on her, so she kills him in the kitchen.
Carousel- The boy she was with was her first love. It felt magical and amazing simply because it's her first time being in love, but it wasn't really a good situation. The boy didn't really reciprocate. To her, it feels like whenever she moves closer, he backs away.
Alphabet Boy- She realizes the situation she's in and cuts it off with that boy. The whole song is her singing about how she's sick of people infantilizing her and trying to "teach" her things she already knows.
Soap- She meets a new boy, Johnny, and falls for him. She's afraid she'll scare him away, so when she's tempted to say "I love you", she washes her mouth out with soap like she's said a swear word.
Training Wheels- She's just like "ah, fuck it" and starts expressing how she wants more out of the relationship.
Pity Party- She does go feral because no one came to her party, but what really drives her up a wall is that Johnny didn't come. She has indeed scared him away.
Tag, You're It- The ice cream man that comes by her neighborhood has noticed how lonely and sad she is. One day, he kidnaps her and takes her back to his home.
Milk and Cookies- She comes to in his house and sees that he's left a note saying that she needs to make him cookies. She poisons the cookies and escapes while the ice cream man is writhing on the floor.
Pacify Her- She isn't actually in love with the blue boy. She just wants to play with their hearts. However, he goes with his original girlfriend because she has a better body.
Mrs. Potato Head- Because of that, she's wondering if her body is wrong in some way and wants to change it. But one day she's watching TV, and on comes a frightful story about a woman who got plastic surgery and regretted it.
Mad Hatter- She's convinced- she's fine the way she is! She's found friends that accept her and all of her craziness, and she's doing better now that she has someone to navigate life with.

Melanie Martinez is that kind of artist that gets glued in your head, and no matter what happens and how many years have past, you will always have her songs stuck in your head. I relate her and Troye Sivan together in a way because of that. His blue neighbourhood album will forever be in my mind

The line in doll house about what goes down in the kitchen is actually referring to another song she wrote called sippy cup. Spoiler: in sippy cup it talks about what does go down in the kitchen, murder. The mom kills women her husband is seeing and give crybaby a sippy cup that makes her forget what she just saw.
