They are making the same thing SEGA did with sonic model's, although it's a nice touch thqt Mario looks more new yorker and older than regular Mario it should be tweak a little.

I think what I appreciate as a choice about this movie is that illumination is a company that has so much experience in 3d animation now that the trust for them to make this a good movie is almost assured. Sonic was ok, but having live action made it lose its touch with the games imo. This feels right, like its not exactly Mario (especially chris pratts impression being negligable) but its just mario enough that its going to be enjoyable for kids and adults alike for sure. So long as the writers dont put "relatable" kids jokes like Mario fortnite dancing I think this will probably stand the test of time

The colors look awful! It's all so washed out. Look at a pixar movie: vibrant with colors that pop. But here, Mario's clothing, the mushrooms, and the green of the grasses look like they've been sapped of life. Even Bowser's skin looks dull and muted. I've noticed that Illumination tends to have this "washed out, everything-bathed-in-white-light" effect.
