Novo Amor is a warm hug on a rainy day. Tea, a blanket, and wool socks.

"I feel like you need to be absent to eventually feel present again." Okay, I shall not marry a man unless he listens to Novo Amor too. 🥺

I just wanted to thank you for your music.I was living in the hospital for a couple years after being in an accident that paralyzed me and I just remember listening to your albums on repeat to drone out machine beeping and buzzing at night. Every physiotherapist session I had m’y headphones on listening to flay or callow or anchor as I tried to get my strength back. Took my first steps again listening to Terrafrom. And that will be a moment I never ever erase from my brain and I show every single person I meet your genius that truly helped me walk again. Music dictates so much of what I do and how I do it- So thank you for creating.

I am not your demographics. I'm an older person in America's South. Your music is so haunting and beautiful. You put into sound what I feel. Your music is so amazing. It calls out to the heart.

This documentary feels like a gentle, intimate and warm hug from your favourite friend when you need it most. And to everyone saying they'll only marry someone who listens to Novo Amor, I have a wholesome story :) I have been listening to Ali's music for some years now. And by the time my mexican-born boyfriend and I, angolan-raised, got back together after 6 years apart, his songs were already a really big part of my life and who I am. I introduced Novo Amor to my boyfriend, who also composes and produces his own songs, and he fell in love just like I did. A New Love (translation from portuguese, which is actually my mother tongue) bloomed and grew between us and Ali's music. And then he announced a concert in Lisbon on May 7, 2019, where I had been living for a few years. 7 is a really special number for us. We were on the first row and it was a night I will never forget. Magic doesn't even come close to it. And we brought home our first ever setlist! I almost cried when I realized one of the final scenes of that documentary is that concert! And yes, I am definitely marrying this guy. Ali, I wholeheartedly thank you for what you bring to this world. Lastly, what a brilliant, brilliant masterpiece was created with this documentary.

"The thought that you can create things, that, affect people so fiercely, out of thin air, can really overwhelm." This is what you and your music has graced us with, thank you Ali and even thank you, Ed!
