Mac Miller is one of a kind. His ability to express emotion musically and convey the ups and downs of life through his production, melodies and rapping was extremely unique. His energy shines through on each album even when he was going through some of his darkest times. But this video isn’t about the gossip, the headlines or anything beyond the music. This video is about what Mac Miller was like in the studio, straight from the mouths of Kendrick Lamar, John Mayer, Young Thug and his closest collaborators.

What's the one song or album of Mac's that you would have loved to be in the studio for? And where were you when you first heard it?

Met Mac in 2013. We cracked a few jokes and he was the realest. Dude made everybody feel as if they were the most important person in the room, even though it was clearly him. Saw him several times through the years and he knew who I was and always asked, “you good?”. I can express what his music and friendship did for me. I miss him every day. Whoever reads this… know that you matter. I’m proud of you. Most Dope, that’s forever.

Macs catalogue will go down as one of the greatest in rap. Not everybody understood his music, cause not everybody sees the world for what it truly is. Rip Larry 🎣

Met Mac in 2015 and 2016. Super nervous the first time. Second time I gave him a canvas that I painted while in line for the meet and greet, he was stoked and took a second to look at what I made for him, he asked if I wanted it signed but I wanted him to have it. I told him that the divine feminine was the sound track off me falling in love, and he was so excited. I'll never forget his body language when I told him that. We took a picture with our thumbs up and both had a huge smile on our faces. My life will forever be impacted by Mac and his art.

I would've loved to sit in the studio when he recorded swimming and circles. It feels like those albums have a level of genuine self-acceptance and peace that his others didn't have. Crazy too how that studio is just down the street from where I live. I often think about how much magic was made in there when I pass by.

Mac Miller is the epitome of doing what you love. I wasted 4 years of my life in university trying to figure out what career path to take and bouncing from program to program, despising everything I did in school. In my final year I fell in love with Mac’s music and his artistry. His passion and commitment to his craft inspired me to chase my dreams and do what I love to do. I dropped out of school and decided to live through my passion and it was the best decision I ever made. Thank you Mac.

What pains me the most is thinking about the future music and impact that Mac would have had on the world. His progression as an artist from KIDS to Circles is mind blowing. RIP MAC 🕊

I cried all day when I heard Mac died. I always liked Mac, but I fell in love with his style around Faces. Everything after Faces is amazing as well, but going back to Delusional Thomas, you could tell he was a different breed. I wish I got to meet him. He did a lot in his 26 years on Earth. When I see him on the other side, I'm gonna joke with him about being too cool for the 27 Club.

Not a day goes by where I don’t listen to Mac. Never met him personally but his music makes me feel like we’re great friends getting to reconnect from different dimensions and he’s telling me that everything will be okay.

You don't even have to have known Mac personally to recognize just how rare of a soul he was.
