That 2007 era was something else for alternative music. It was like one side of the pond was having its scene (Europe) and another side’s scene was popular as all get out (U.S.).
No lie, the fashion in the mall emo scene was something I admire nearly everyday. People say that the fashion is back and popular again, but it’s not like what it used to be/doesn’t hit the same.

german elder emo here :D thanks for the video! I totally remember the rise of Tokio Hotel, it was absolutely insane. They where literally everywhere and people, mostly girls, dressed like Bill and sadly some of them got beaten up for that.. but Bill also rose as a gay Icon for soooo many queer people... Cinema Bizarre instead wasn't that big, I think they where more like an "failed" industry product, because the german music industry put a lot of similiar bands to copy the success (and money) of Tokio Hotel like LaFee, Fräulein Wunder etc, and I was surprised when I heard that CB made it to be the opening act of than newcomer Lady Gaga... the good old times.. thank you very much Vitaly for bringing it back!

Growing up in Germany during this era was something else! Cinema Bizarre wasn't too big outside compared to more mainstream bands, but are still being referenced occasionally in what's left of the Visual Kei scene over here. Which is crazy! Tokio Hotel on the other hand... there's a 'documentary' (think TLC) from the earlier 2000s about a girl that skips school, is disrespectful to her parents and commands around her group of friends all for the sake of driving after Tokio Hotel during one of their tours in Germany (or Europe, I'm not too sure). This documentary made it to national meme status and every blue moon comes back around, but has also kind of manifested younger Tokio Hotelfans back then as overly obsessed and cringy fangirls, and Germans loves to stick to stereotypes they've heard more than 10 years ago. So that stigma is still around, even after the band changed their image.

The fact that this type of music isn’t popular anymore is so tragic, but it just makes me appreciate this era even more. What a time to be alive
