The fearsome Sheik needs little introduction, but by 1980, his career was in a downslide with the closure of his Detroit promotion. Although he continued wrestling into the 1990s, the Sheik spent the better part of this period as a gypsy, working several promotions for short stints across the U.S., Canada, Japana, and other places. One such stop was George Cannon's Superstars of Wrestling, which should come as no surprise given Cannon's history of working the Sheik's territory and promoting in the Detroit area after the fall of Big Time Wrestling. Several of the Sheik's classic brawls and squashes aired on Superstars to hype the noble one's arrival. This match is one of several battles between the Sheik and his perpetual nemesis, Bobo Brazil (the defending U.S. Champion here) from the Cobo Hall Arena in Detroit. The great Eddie the Brain Creatchman accompanies the Sheik here. I need help with dating this match, given how many times the Sheik and Brazil faced each other in the 1970s alone. There's a brief commentary following the match with Cannon & Milt Avruskin.

In the early 70's as a young13 yr old boy my friends and I went to see big time wrestling at our local arena( Leamington Ontario). The Sheik vs Bobo Brazil was the main event. About 2 hrs before show time we were hanging around the back of the arena hoping to catch a glimpse of the wrestlers going in. A big boogie van rolled up to us and and the driver rolled his window down and asked if we knew which doors the rasslers were to use. Holy crap ,it was Bobo !! I acted like I just saw god. We pointed him to the correct door and he shook our hands through the window. Huge man and so soft spoken. Him and the Shiek had a double count out that night. Blood, fire and forgein objects..... I will never forget it

This had to be the longest running feud in wrestling history. They started in the late 50's and were still going at it in the early 90's. Incredible!

Lot of people are unaware that the sheik owned the Detroit promotion and booked all the talent. My opinion that was the greatest wrestling firefly in pro wrestling history and there has been some great ones.

As a little boy I use to wonder "Why BoBo Brazil would ever fight this man"? The Shiek and Wild Bull Curry are the only 2 people in history that gave me nightmares as a child.

I would read about these feuds in wrestling magazines back in the day as a kid. The Sheik would get split open at least one month annually on the cover.
