It seems a lot of early ’00s bands have been rolling out music lately. Recently, we’ve gotten new material by The Mars Volta, Wilco, and Arcade Fire, but the list truly goes on. Now, Interpol is the latest early aughts icon to release a new project with their seventh studio album The Other Side of Make-Believe. Indiecast hosts Steven Hyden and Ian Cohen discuss the band’s legacy and how their new music compares to their early catalog.

This sounds like a review of Interpol after skimming through band pics, listening to their top few tracks off of each album only once or twice, and then completely skipping their third and fourth LPs

There's in fact experimentation with hip hop both in the singing (big shot city), and specially with the drumming, being Flood and Alan Moulder in charge of the production of the drums, the overall sound takes a new and sometimes bombastic sound with kick and hi hats that seem inspired by that genre.(Mr. Credit it's a weird mixture of their classic post punk revival mixed with grunge drums and bass and hip hop drums production, Into the Night it's also great). Then there's the piano and the guitar work (yeah I honestly thought that they were going serious with making an album full of art rock/alternative rock piano songs but Toni and Something Changed didn't disappointed me at all they're in fact part of my personal favorite Interpol songs of all time). TOSOMB finds Interpol adding new layers to their classic sound (They're not Radiohead which completely changes their sounds with each album, What Interpol does it's to maintain the core sound but with a new direction each time) On this album you'll find their classic post punk revival sound mixed with: Art Rock, Alternative Rock, Grunge, Shoegaze, Dreampop, Sometimes Jazz inspired beats and even a bolero song c'mon they have never done something similar to Something Changed, Big Shot City or Mr Credit
