As soon as I recognized the game was having me be an in-universe element to the story, I made a different choice. I started letting the timer run out on everything. After a certain point, as things deteriorated, the main character started claiming that he was being controlled due to the horrible things he was doing.
My response: "Nope, dude. I haven't done anything since you tried to rub your ear. Everything you did since then is on you."

6:09 I thought about it, and simply closed Netflix instead of being forced to choose. I don't REALLY have to be forced to choose between bad choices, since I am in control of whether I experience it at all :D

4:50 I love the "free will" statement with Will behind bars. Nice touch.

Stefan: "Someone from the future is watching me and giving me commands through a computer!"
John Egbert: "You are adorable."
MSPA Reader: "This guy is an amateur."
Seriously though, the story is good, but let's remember that Charlie Brooker and the other creators of Black Mirror always write stories with technologies that are more like magic than actual technology as a way to be alarmists about new technological trends. Seriously, some technologies in the Black Mirror universe would require violations of human rights to be possible even before the creation of the Cookies.

Sounds like a cop out from the fact that adding meaningful choices to the narrative would simply make production overhead costs skyrocket. Giving the illusion of choice making while funneling viewers down the same linear storyline comes off as a gimmick in Bandersnatch's execution.
And I'm fine if Netflix wants to say "hey we're exploring this mechanic...have fun" and leave it at that...but to explain the ultimately linear storyline away as being some end goal is silly.
Of course people have choice (shooting or not shooting someone) which lead to truly different story paths.

We had a LOT of mixed thoughts about Bandersnatch that just didn't make it into this episode, so if you're interested in deeper analysis check out the Bandersnatch episode from Matt's podcast "The Only Podcast About Movies" here (heads-up: contains strong language): www.onlymoviepodcast.com/home/2019/1/7/196-black-m…
