Son of a gun, this may be one of the finest live performances I’ve ever heard. Start with a breakup situation that we can all relate to in some way, then add in the perfect emotional lyrics and vocals of the ever-creative Mr. Schneider, not to mention his stellar piano playing. After that, tag in the sublime harmonies of Patty G, and be sure to lay in the melancholia of those violins!, and back it all with the steady assurance and calm timing of the drummer. But surely you can’t forget that extraordinary little pause, right between “buy him” and “a beer”! OMG, how special is that? Punctuated with that PERFECT “ting!” of the triangle for the werewolf’s beer. Absolute perfection. Thank you!

I discovered Bob Schneider about 10 years ago. I have become a huge fan of his. This song has to be his best, in my humble opinion. It is the saddest love song that I have ever heard. Patti Griffin is amazing in this video. I love the last lyric about the Werewolf. I think that I've had werewolves on my lawn. Wish that I had offered them a beer.

I have been reading some of the comments and I am proud to add my name to the list and state the fact that I am right next to y'all that this song makes you 😢 tear up and cry😭. Hell yes it definitely brings out the goosebumps, the memories ( to whatever "Memory Doors" it may knock on) it definitely brings the tears and I cannot hold them back. I have tried, and those tears will be coming. haha. I have been a fan of The mighty "Schneider-Man" since the incredible "Lonelyand" album was first released. This man is a poet with that special gift that not all musicians have. That is not a diss to other many great musicians (of now and the past) it's just a fact and true music lovers, and music aficionados, know what I'm saying I don't think I will get any arguments. Bob is an artist that I discovered during a very dark period in my life. My best friend in the world and of my whole life just committed suicide and I was about 3 weeks into coming off of my first 3 yr round of Heroin Addiction and I was in Goodwill with my grandmother when I found this cd single:
Bob Schneider with 3 tracks: Big Blue Sea / 2002/ Metal & Steel
(It was priced at a "whopping" $0.99 !! ) 😆 Anyways, I seriously felt (something strange, a kind of force, and warmth, OK, I will say it I felt my best friend, Levi, and I hurried home to listen to it because, like I said, I was in a very dark place and music was my saving grace and I don't say that lightly and in a joking manner. Its true. Well, if you are a Bob fan as I am then you know what happened when I heard him for the first time because the same thing happened to you when you heard that special song that touched you in your 💓 and Bob now has a special vip spot in your "favorite musicians/groups" ha ha 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼 SkRIM

Another artist who deserves more exposure. That's one beautiful and bittersweet song.
