I feel that Halsey has this uniqueness of turning her songs from happy to sad, from strong to weak, from past to present by using different tones of her voice. I feel her words differently every time I listen to a different version of a song and this is something only Halsey can make me feel this way and I love her for that

IMAGINE You are standing on a road in the middle of the country side and it is night time. The full moon is shining brightly down on the world and on you. It is also raining while the storm clouds are making a circle around the moon. You hear this song playing somewhere and you start to run to where ever you hear this song playing at. But you then realize that you are all alone and you are lost within yourself. You drop to your knees in the middle of the road and you start to cry, scream, and shake. THE END

I think I have a story for this. A man has a rocky relationship with his family, and ends up taking anti-depressiants to feel better. Him "dripping" and "spilling" could be him losing hope and joy. He's a masterpeice becuase he survived his childhood. However, as he leaves home (tearing through the pages and the ink) he still is depressed. The blue symbolizes man-made solutions, and blue hands could be him trying to fix himself. He gets covered in the colors, or fixes himself temporarily, but then he's "torn apart at the seams", or basically him trying to fix himself causes him to lose everything. He's then depressed again and starts smoking. His hair grays from stress, and his loses all hope. Then he get a lover, who pulls him out of depression temporarily. "Vision in the morning" sybolized hoe he was fine at first. Then he found out that he lover was cheating on him with a lot of other men. He gets into a fight with the lover, saying "I won't forgive you until your other boyfriends know and have forgiven you as well". He still missed his ex terribly, but had to let them go. Then he gets depressed again and the chorus repeats again. Then, the line, "Art is not what I create. What I create, is chaos". That's him finally realizing that the anti-depressants or whatever drugs he took only made things worse. Then the chorus repeats, as his last attempt with the pills, before theend of the song saying that he was still blue. He had comitted suicide, but becuase he seemed fine and hid his struggle, noone knew why he ended his life. It's dark, but this is just the kind of thing that happens today.

This was the first song I listened to when I started listening to Halsey.. it was like 2015 and I was homeless with my dad. Thanks for staying with me all this time Halsey. ❤️ I'm 15 now and really thankful for you.

Your little brother never tells you but he loves you so You said your mother only smiled on her tv show You're only happy when your sorry head is filled with dope I hope you make it to the day you're twenty-eight years old You're dripping like a saturated sunrise You're spilling like an overflowing sink You're ripped at every edge but you're a masterpiece And now i'm tearing through the pages and the ink Everything is blue His pills, his hands, his jeans And now i'm covered in the colors pull apart at the seams And it's blue And it's blue Everything is grey His hair, his smoke, his dreams And now he's so devoid of color He don't know what it means And he's blue And he's blue You were a vision in the morning when the light came through I know I've only felt religion when i've lied with you You said you'll never be forgiven till your boys are too And I'm still waking every morning but it's not with you You're dripping like a saturated sunrise You're spilling like an overflowing sink You're ripped at every edge but you're a masterpiece And now I'm tearing through the pages and the ink Everything is blue His pills, his hands, his jeans And now I'm covered in the colors Pull apart at the seams And it's blue And it's blue Everything is grey His hair, his smoke, his dreams And now he's so devoid of color He don't know what it means And he's blue And he's blue You were red, and you liked me because I was blue But you touched me, and suddenly I was a lilac sky Then you decided purple just wasn't for you Everything is blue His pills, his hands, his jeans And now I'm covered in the colors pull apart at the seams And it's blue And it's blue Everything is grey His hair, his smoke, his dreams And now he's so devoid of color He don't know what it means And he's blue And he's blue
