WARNING: this should not be the song you listen to after a heartbreak. Use me as a "crying mess" button

I don't know why but.... I relate this song with Jesus.. About how he really wants me to rely on Him.. He is a simple thing a simple friend. He knows the pathways of my heart and soul like the back of our hands. We make each other complete. And He is only waiting for me to let Him in. And as I grow older and tired He would be there for me to rely on or begin again. He is waiting for me to speak with Him. Leave this worldly place. In that place we would see each other, somewhere only we know.

You know you have a lonely life when YouTube recommendations know you better than most people in your life. This is a beautiful song.. felt warm and cold at the same time, idk why..

This is my favorite song of all time. I never really associated it with love, heartbreak, or even another person. I always found it to be about feelings. One being nostalgia. I think it’s about the negative feelings. Sadness, anxiety, etc. I attributed it to my personal feelings. I have an anxiety disorder. I feel like the ‘oh simple thing, where have you gone?’ Bit is a nod to how life used to be more simple. Or a longing for the past. ‘I’m getting old and I need something to rely on’ Saying that as you get older, you stop looking at things through rose tinted glasses. And you realize that the world isn’t what you thought it was. So, you might try and grip onto things, and have vices. This version gives it a bit of a different feeling to me. I feel it’a about reflecting on those negative feelings. Sort of finding a new hope, in a sense. It seems sort of melancholy, but at the same time, you get a feeling of acceptance. Accepting that life isn’t how it was, and instead of wishing for things to be how they used to be, accepting those feelings as they come to pass. Not grabbing onto the relics of the past, and instead, coping with the feelings and emotions and recognizing them as human. And, finding comfort within that. That’s how I see the original and this cover. I’ve loved this song for a very long time, and connect with it on a deeply personal level. I love how this gives it a new feeling, and another perspective. Because, there are multiple ways to look at something. Whether it be a positive outlook or not, is up to you. And that feelings are fluid and human. I’ve always loved this song because those hard to describe feelings are portrayed so perfectly. And it’s comforting, in a way. Knowing that those feelings are understood.❤️

I know no one is going to see this but this is my childhood song every time I heard it in the car or on the radio I nearly would cry so when I found this song I was just like “Is this the place we used to love”

I walked across an empty land I knew the pathway like the back of my hand I felt the earth beneath my feet Sat by the river, and it made me complete Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin I came across a fallen tree I felt the branches of it looking at me Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place that I've been dreaming of? Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin And if you have a minute, why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go Somewhere only we know? Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin And if you have a minute, why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go? So why don't we go? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go Somewhere only we know Somewhere only we know Somewhere only we know?

That special person would be my Daughter. I wasn't the good father I should have been in earlier years but given the chance, let me dance with her on the beach we would go to to watch the baby turtles hatch in the we hours of morning. To dance with her there before I move on to my other life would be truly blessed and gift from above. Dad

And suddenly it's 2006 again and I'm 17. I feel the emotions of happiness and hopefulness and my heart is breaking for what I had back then. Keane will always be my version, but this is absolutely beautiful.

Please come across this song. All of the time that we were together, I'll never forget.
