The "Highland" Tesla Model 3 is a big step forward for the world's best transportation device. The new Performance (not Plaid!) model approaches sport-sedan perfection

The facelifted '24 Model 3 Performance features fully revised suspension, with not a single shared component with the regular Model 3 Long Range. It features real-time adaptive shocks, for the first time on a 3, that adjust continually (in a combined compression/rebound adjustment.)

The New M3P's interior features real (excellent) sport seats, a carbon-fiber "blade" on the dashboard, and an adjustable track mode that allows full control of handling balance.

The exterior gets unique front fascia with an air dam, a rear spoiler and diffuser, and forged, staggered wheels.

Weight is the same as the outgoing car, at 4055 lb. Range should increase 2-3% in the real world versus the previous car. Pricing will be less than $60,000.

Model 3 Performance's output is 510 hp and 547 lb-ft, and it comes with additional rear bias thanks to the more powerful 4th-generation rear motor. The last car would put 60 to 70% power to the rear, the new one is capable of sending 70 to 85% power to the rear at most times.

The inverter can now handle 950 amps, up from the previous 830A, and the battery is now the limiting factor in output.

The new Performance logo looks similar to the Plaid badge, but isn't — that will be held for 3-motor variants with carbon-sleeve-wrapped rotors.

But the specs aren't what's important here — enjoy the full review from Jason Cammisa.

You’ve actually convinced me to sell my STI and get a 3 Performance.

The Model 3 performance in the USA is 52.5k car, and it's eligible for the Tax Credit, so you can get it for 45k out of the door.

“This renders the BMW M3 totally irrelevant “ - epic.

Thanks Jason for describing the ride, handling and acceleration curve in detail. So many other reviews are missing these details. Same with the seat description.

37:44 It's well under $60k...starts at $52k. And if you change little, you can get the full point of sale tax credit and now you're talking $45k. Anyone who buys anything else in its class is just not using their noggin'. Tesla just KILLED the competition.

This new Model 3 Performance is a bargain of the century! 50-60K for a car that has over 500hp, is sporty and yet comfortable, has all the tech features and the best part - no maintenance! Early 2000’s that was a pipe dream. Germans are falling behind. I had 9 BMWs and this new Tesla 3P is going to be my next car.

Plaid and ludicrous are both referring to Spaceballs. Elon is a giant child and that’s my favorite thing about Tesla

it's astounding what they list it for. 53k. a base M3 costs 77k but you'd be hard pressed to actually find one for that.

The car is under 50k if you qualify for the tax credit. Ridiculous.

$45K (with the federal tax credit) is absolutely insane. Stunning car, now even better. Want.

The name "Model 3" was chosen because Ford trademarked "Model E"

I switched from my ICE vehicle late last year and went with a 2023 Model Y Performance and it's the best daily driver I've ever had. I still can't believe I only paid $52k (before the $7,500 tax credit) and it's stupid fast where it needs to be which is 0-60. On my daily drives, I don't encounter many cars that can beat me light to light. Bang for buck, it's the best choice for most of us.

You didn’t even talk about FSD and the ease of plugging in at home and the superchargers! People have no clue how awesome Tesla ownership is.❤

Purchased a used 2019 Model 3 Performance a year & half ago. It’s quickly become my favorite daily I’ve ever owned. Comfortable, great stereo, fast, agile and cheap to own. I drive 100+ miles per day for $35 per month charging from home each night. You are spot on about the ride and suspension issues but overall it’s a sensational daily. Drove a new LR M3 and was really impressed with the build quality improvements and chassis refinement. Can’t wait to drive the new performance but also afraid it might be my next purchase.

Happy/surprised to hear I'm not the only one that switch from and M3 to a Model 3.

It’s a Ludicrous badge (one step below Plaid). Source: Space Balls.

Just a few corrects for Jason: - Project Highland was internal name for the car refresh (Tesla said the name doesn't exist, but some supplier records refer to Highland), some people theorised it is a reference to Ford's revolutionary manufacturing site "Highland Park Ford Plant". - The "Model E" name is owned by Ford, so Tesla couldn't use that. Hence the Model 3. But I like that it also then competes with the BWM branding. - The badge is actually "Ludicrous" - from the Space Balls movie. If you go into Car UI, it is now three driving modes: Chill, Standard and Insane.
