The two gun shots at the beginning symbolize a kid committing suicide, "Home in bed or out at night Don't think twice Just don't think twice, Make a choice, one you won't regret" I think symbolizes the American public school system forcing kids to choose a career they will have for the rest of their lives at 18, and "This is your life This is still your life" symbolizes what the child tells themselves when they are forced to choose.

This actually has a dark meaning. The shots at the starts are most likely kids committing suicide. Home in bed or put at night most likely means commit suicide or be killed. This is your life still your life most likely means they have to choose a forever career and kill themselves and the people blame the kids. It says: DONT BLAME IT ON THE KIDS means they shouldn't blame the kids for their mistake

Home in bed or out at night
Don't think twice
Just don't think twice
Make a choice, one you won't regret
This is your life
This is still your life
Never gone get away, never gone get away
Never gone break their chains
Watching me patiently, watching me patiently
Watching me take the blame
Never gone get away, never gone get away
Never gone break the chains
I'm running out of options, and they know
Oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh
I'm tired of holding on
Oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh
Hear me when I say
Don't blame it on the kids
Don't blame it on the kids, kids
Don't blame it on the kids
Don't blame it on the kids, kids
Say their names, we won't forget
This is not your fight, not your fight
You played games, but we can forgive
Put down the knife, put down the knife
Never gone get away, never gone get away
Never gone break their chains
Watching me patiently, watching me patiently
Watching me take the blame
Never gone get away, never gone get away
Never gone break the chains
I'm running out of options, and they know
Oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh
I'm tired of holding on
Oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh
Hear me when I say
Don't blame it on the kids
Don't blame it on the kids, kids
Don't blame it on the kids
Don't blame it on the kids, kids
Don't blame it on the kids (oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh)
Don't blame it on the kids, kids (oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh)
Don't blame it on the kids (oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh)
Don't blame it on the kids, kids (oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh)
Come out, where your pretty faces hiding
Come out, I don't see no point in lying
No doubt, you have questions I can answer
But first come out with your hands up
Come out, where your pretty faces hiding
Come out I don't see no point in lying
No doubt, you have questions I can answer
But first come out with your hands up
Don't blame it on the kids
Don't blame it on the kids, kids
Don't blame it on the kids
Don't blame it on the kids, kids
Don't blame it on the kids (oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh)
Don't blame it on the kids, kids (oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh)
Don't blame it on the kids (oh woah, oh oh, woah oh, oh)

This connects with me a lot because everything I did when I was a child made everyone mad at me. At school I never showed my work which lead to lots of suspensions and Made me so stressed that is one of many examples but after school I would just sit in my room until dinner then back to my room I hated everything then but three people my mom, dad, friend they were the only things keeping my will to hang on stronger so I can relate to this a lot and I still have not come to good terms with the all the stress and anger and frustration and sadness I felt so much pain and people never even said anything about it they all said it was just a phase and brushed it off like it would pass and they always blamed me for everything and called me names to drove me to the edge only my mom, dad, and friend they were the last thing I had that was valuable to me

Plot twist: The singer of this song is the parent of the kid who committed suicide because they always blame everything on their kid.
Another plot twist: The lyric was actually a poem made by the kid before he/she died
Edit: It's been a year since I checked this, it's just fictional y'all
Edit: Plot twist (3): what if the kid there committed a crime and the singer was the mother of the child who is willing to take all the blame but the victim starts to opened up at 2:10 [the mother replied at 2:17 but the victim continues] at 1:06 it's the victim too

I think this song is about a group of kids who all try to be perfect, but still get blamed when something goes wrong. When they say ‘home in bed or out at night’ they mean that the kids have a choice to either be perfect for the teachers/parents/etc, or sneak out and do potentially dangerous things, like going out at night. When they say ‘don’t think twice, just don’t think twice’ the kids force themselves to take the perfect route, even when they don’t want to. ‘Make a choice one you won’t regret’ explaining how they had to pick a choice, and they necessarily didn’t want to be perfect , but ‘this is your life, this is still your life’ explains how they can’t turn back after picking. I know my theory makes no sense but I thought of it for some reason!
