In this video I unbox a Maiasaura Dinosaur bone. Hereโ€™s more info on the bone itself:

This is a remarkably well preserved, 19.7" long fossil hadrosaur (Maiasaura sp.?) humerus bone, collected from the Two Medicine Formation of Pondera County, Montana. It would have come from the left side of the hadrosaur. This bone comes with the pictured custom metal display stand.

Measurements:
Length: 19.7"
Proximal Width: 5.7"
Distal End: 4.3"
Height on Stand: 20.5"

Maiasaura meaning "good mother reptile" or "good mother lizard" is a large herbivorous hadrosaur ("duck-billed") dinosaur that lived in the area currently covered by the state of Montana in the Upper Cretaceous Period. The first fossils of Maiasaura were discovered in 1978. The name refers to the find of nests with eggs, embryos and young animals, in a nesting colony. These showed that Maiasaura fed its young while they were in the nest, the first time such evidence was obtained for a dinosaur. Maiasaura reached lengths of around 30 feet long, making it a fairly large Hadrosaur. Young animals walked on their hind legs, adults on all fours.

$2500 THAT'S NOT EVEN BAD I WAS THINKING WORSE. I KNOW WHAT IM SAVING UP FOR! I hope there's still going to be cool pieces like that left for me! I totally understand getting emotional about this stuff. I get crazy and think deeply too about stuff like this so I think it's awesome! I need one! To see it everyday would be amazing.

Note its not an actual bone but a fossil of a bone, the original bone is dissolved away and replaced by minerals so its a natural cast of a dinosaur bone.

Very cool. Just remember that if or when you no longer want this specimen that you donate it to a natural history museum rather than selling it or giving it away. That's the best way for fossils to be looked after imo

AWESOME unboxing of an absolutely EPIC Item! I am fascinated by all things Nature and have quite a large rock and mineral collection . I do have a good number of fossils and indeed , I am humbled to be in the presence of something so unfathomably old. I don't own any fossils that are super expensive ( 40 dollars tops ) but still feel fortunate to have them . I once had a much larger rock , mineral, and fossil collection that I lost several years back in a house fire . Some of the specimens I lost I had since I was a child when I first "got hooked" on rocks, minerals ,fossils and sea shells . I've managed to rebuild my collection somewhat but not yet to the extent of my former collection . In my former collection , I had a several professional grade /museum worthy specimens . I am leery of trying to acquire anything super expensive now.
