I’ve posted a tab for Solfegietto and the mp3 for “grimebreath” at my Patreon: bit.ly/2zFwzOO

With free ampsim vsts, you can have an entire arsenal of amplifiers, pedals, and effects at your disposal without having to spend a penny. In this video I’m going to walk you through how to install and use them in your tracks, then show you how I craft my guitar tones for my songs and videos. This can be very helpful for you if you don’t do a lot of playing out or gigging, or if you spend a lot of time recording.
You need a program like Ableton or Protools, any DAW that can use VSTs. This will cost money but will end up saving you far more in the long run than buying amps and pedals.

At the end, I made a mini music-video for a snippet I wrote just for this video by using a weird guitar tone. I really like the groove and intend to finish that song one day with a real drummer and a different singer.

SUGGESTED DAWS- Do some homework before buying a DAW. They all do the same stuff pretty much, just make sure it’s 64 bit and is compatible with your equipment and computer:
Ableton Live
Protools
Reason
Studio One
Reaper
Logic

Finally, a pro who does not demonize virtual guitar processing. I am so tired of all this "Yeah, but analogue is always better" whining. Nice job!

Mr. Jake Lizzio: I want to thank you, pure and simple. I've been playing music for nearly 25 years having NEVER taken an official lesson. I began watching your videos and learned a tremendous amount about music theory and composition. A while ago, I made a cd and, as fate would have it, a copy found it's way to man named Henrique Couto. Turns out, Mr. Couto is a director. He asked me to score a few shorts for him (available to watch on youtube, called "Stirring" and "Scary Clown"). Anyhow, a month ago I was given my first chance to score music for a full-length feature film, a horror flick called Haunting Inside, directed by Mr. Couto. He asked me if I had anyone I'd like to thank in the end credits. Only 2 people came to mind: my wife and you. Your video on effective techniques for creating scary music was of immense value, and I can't thank you enough. Oh, yea... the film is being released on dvd in late June. You can find info about it on imdb. Thanks again! You rule!

Grimebreath is an instant classic, Jake. I love the way the guitar came out after you added some fuzz to it.

Great video! Jake, one of the things that I love about your channel is that you're really good at explaining complex concepts in a way that is not overly-technical and is easy for anyone to understand.

Great video! The examples showing how you use sends and parallel effects is extremely helpful and shows the real power of using the DAW. Thanks!

Thank you. I've been searching on and off for about a year for ways to record distorted guitar digitally. All I ever found was guides either saying to mic up my amp, or more convoluted ways to record digitally that still involved things like a physical amp, a pedal, and an audio interface. In fact, I spent all day just yesterday doing this and it mostly ended in disappointment. This is EXACTLY what I was looking, and a tutorial on how to use it to boot. You are my savior with this. I'm just trying to write and record songs as a hobby, I don't want nor need to spend hundreds of dollars on DAWs, equipment, and software.
