One of Julia Robertsâs all-time favourite looks is the Armani trouser suit she wore to collect a Golden Globe for her performance in Steel Magnolias back in 1990. Back in the day I was working for a luxury fashion house and Julia Roberts was in town filming a movie. She walked in with an assistant and they were dressed casually and appeared very unassuming. Julia had a big scarf wrapped around her neck partially covering her mouth. She also had eyeglasses on and no makeup. At first I didnât recognize her but when I approached and greeted them I knew. I engaged with them and they were both very nice. Once we were all in the fitting room (it was huge) I got them drinks and let them know we had a lot more stock in the back that wasnât on the floor. I offered to take them to the back area to see everything and they seemed pleased. Once we were all there I casually asked if she was in town for work which was my way of acknowledging her. She chatted me up saying yes she was filming with Owen Wilson on a film called Wonder. At one point she got a call on her phone and she took it. I was busy organizing her purchase when all of a sudden she burst out laughing during her conversation and it was the Pretty Woman moment. She had a huge, toothy grin on her face, looked over and winked at me. It was classic! All in all, she and her assistant were so nice, normal and friendly. Iâve assisted a lot of celebrities during my career in fashion and makeup and she definitely stood out as one of the most genuine đ
