Live at Darryl's House on internet. Celo Green and Darryl do this song together. He has a funky band behind them. I listen to it almost everyday.

And to think Daryl and John met for the first time while riding in the same elevator together.. The rest is history!

This song wasn't written about a girl, but about the music industry.

John Oates still works, he's still in Philadelphia mentoring young musicians.

Quoted from Wikipedia"John Oates has stated that while many listeners may assume the lyrics are about a relationship, in reality, the song, "is about the music business. That song is really about not being pushed around by bigĀ labels,Ā managers, andĀ agentsĀ and being told what to do, and being true to yourself creatively."

We were so spoiled back then. These guys were just a phenomenal band with a long line of hits.

Darrel Hall's voice and swag is natural. He used to hang out around Motown, that was a soulful atmosphere to learn his chops in.

Hip Hop Has a habit of sampling great music of the past. When you can't be creative on your own just take from the masters of the past. The number of songs you have said that you have heard as a sample is insane.

Daryl Hall used to have a TV show where he would invite guests for jam sessions. He did I Can't Go For That with the legendary CeeLo Green. Amazing performance !!! You should check it out

Hall and Oates were freaking huge back in the day. This came out two years before Billie Jean did. These guys were smooth as freaking silk

Great reaction ! May I suggest Sara Smile and Sheā€™s Gone by Hall & Oates, arguably their two best songs.

This song came on while I was eating at a local restaurant a few weeks ago and EVERYBODY in the place, (all ages, races, etc.,), started nodding and bouncing their heads. This song is a true classic and an eternal jam.

MJ came up to Daryl Hall at the We Are The World recording session and thanked him/apologized to him for lifting this beat for Billie Jean. Hall was super gracious, saying that all good musicians ā€œstealā€ from each other.

The sax player DeChant has been with them since like day 3. Such an important influence, Daryl and John dubbed him the ā€œ&ā€ in their name.

I heard that the song was written with the music industry in mind.. how Hall and oats refused to "sell their their soul". It is meant to have the subtlety , sounding at first like a woman.. but really its about music company.
