The Greenport Scoot is unequivocally the most scenic LIRR route. The towns served by the Scoot resemble New England. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of trains each day. There are many attractions along the route, but the LIRR refuses to improve service. The Scoot is in dark territory- there are no signals. As a result, only one train can operate along the single track, 46 mile route at a time. This severely limits service.

Despite the fact that service is anemic, this route is still worth fanning- just make sure that you get to the stations on time. If you miss the train then you're screwed.

I previously made some Scoot videos back in 2020. A month ago, I had to stop by Riverhead for an event. I decided to make a video of my journey from Ronkonkoma to Riverhead.

On a trip to Yaphank, the rail road put me on a bus. The conductor on the bus did not bother to collect tickets.

Given the nature of the East End of the North Fork of LI, I wonder if the local residents WANT more train service with the increased activity and population that it would bring. Is the LIRR "refusing" to improve service or are the residents happy with the status quo? Do the North Fork residents want their area to resemble the South Fork?
