The messy room episode would have been done much better if Chip's younger brother accidentally broke a toy he left out. It would be a natural consequence of not putting his toys away. Instead, the show has the PARENTS intentionally break his things so he learns that disobedience will be punished with the destruction of his belongings.

Yeesh. That Chip Chilla episode about cleaning up your room and how it contrasted with the Bluey episode reminded me of an old Bernstein Bears book/episode about the same subject. The cubs wouldn't keep their pigsty of a room clean, and Mama Bear got so fed up that she got a big box, wrote "Trash" on it, and stomped into the cubs' room and started throwing everything she got her hands on into the box while Brother and Sister pleaded with her to stop and yelled for help, getting the attention of Papa Bear who was outside in his shop. Papa sprinted into the house and sat everyone down for a serious talk. He made it clear Mama had gone too far in trying to throw all the cubs' toys away, but also Brother and Sister had to take better care of their living space, because it wasn't fair to Mama to make her have to clean everything, but it wasn't fair to the cubs to live in such a pig pen. He offered to make the cubs multiple toy boxes and peg boards to organize their toys, games, and collections, and the episode closed with a montage of Brother and Sister working very hard to clean their room, putting their stuff in all the boxes Papa had made for them, and yes, even throwing some of their broken or unneeded things away in Mama's trash box. Even that is a much more balanced and nuanced approach to the subject than the Chip Chilla episode. Talk about a terrible moral, goodness.

In Bluey, no one hurts one intentionally hurts another. Not emotionally or physically, especially Chilli and Bandit. And when it does inevitably happen, because, accidents happen, Chilli and Bandit take accountability and APOLOGIZE to their daughters. This show acknowledges the mistakes of parents and that despite mistakes, they're loving and capable. They put aside their pride, don't try and to make excuses and sincerely apologize for hurting them, even though it's not intentional. If a parent doesn't apologize to their child when they've hurt them, even when it's an accident, it hurts that child a second time. And even worse is how The Chillas punish, yes punish, not educate, their children. With just that summery of that Julius Cesar episode, I got flashbacks to my own upbringing of how my mother threw away toys, books, and stuffed animals during an argument. I've had my things I care about threatened and tossed out as punishments. It hurts and ultimately fixed nothing, it only forced a wedge into my relationship with my mom. I cannot believe they ruined their child's possessions and bullied him to manipulate him into cleaning his toys and frame it as a positive thing. Meanwhile, in say, Fairies, Bandit accidentally hurts Bingo's feelings because he was occupied and she wanted to show him a domino heart she made him. He doesn't lash out at her or scream, but is a little harsher with his tone and indicates she's being a bother to him. Bingo is so hurt by this and vents to CHILLI (the mom not really being a part of the story is something that really irks me because Chili is just as valuable as Bandit to the show,) Chili ultimately comes up with a game to bring up the problem to Bandit and Bandit takes a moment to apologize to Bingo, sincerely. He doesn't make excuses, tell her she shouldn't have felt that way, that she took it personally, or that she's overreacting or took it the wrong way. She was hurt, and that's enough. He reassures her, no matter what, that he loves her very much, and if he's ever accidentally hurt her feelings, he's sorry. That episode makes me tear up. The acknowledgement that you've hurt someone and apologizing for it, is so refreshing and reassuring. Bluey is kind, caring and reassuring, while being fun, FUNNY, and charming. It's artistically driven and brings good entertainment to children that their parents can also enjoy, and feel comforted by as well.

The only thing "woke" about Bluey is that it teaches simple lessons without ever talking down to kids and being mature enough for adults to watch on their own. A lot of preschool shows can't pull off what Bluey does! It's no surprise that a conservative knock-off wouldn't even come close to Bluey's high standards. đ

Chip can never be like Bluey because it is about HURTING. Whether that be through its actual show messaging or the fear mongering values the Daily Wire is based on. Bluey works so well with both children and adults because its HEALING. Blueyâs problems are handled with the outmost love and tenderness that you can feel through the screen. The kids are allowed to be happy and carefree, they are allowed to love each other when every damn siblings in kids shows are boiled down to hating each other. The tattle episode makes me so sad because that poor little girl is being alienated and ostracized for telling the truth, they terrorize the child before telling her that somethings wrong. It feels so reminiscent of many painful childhoods that many of us grown adults are still hurting from. But when I see Bandit being open about his feelings or Chili bringing security to the girls, or literally any gentle parenting technique as small as it can be I literally start crying. I feel my inner child heal in a way

Telling the daughter that sheâs just tattling is so weird to me. Isnât tattling a stigmatized term for telling adults when someone does something bad? Why is the dad discouraging that âunless itâs importantâ?
A better phrasing would be to say itâs gossiping, since it seems like the daughter hurt peopleâs feelings by âreportingâ peopleâs private stories
