My ex-girlfriend, now best friend of twenty plus years now has struggled badly with heroin addiction and depression and came very, very close to dying more times than i'd like to remember. this song is both terrible and beautiful to me. amy had talent and soul and an understanding of pain. i'm glad i just liked her music and didn't know her personally. if i had tried to intervene and failed to help her, i'd be heartbroken. more heartbroken than i am with my friend who will grapple with addiction the rest of her life. you're stardust now, amy. nothing else can hurt you.
