In this video I talk about how I learned anatomy from Youtube and other free online resources as I redevelop my own figure drawing skills in my sketchbook. I hope this helps anyone looking to improve their anatomy or get started with learning how to draw. YouTube videos and online resources can be a great replacement or supplement for Art school, and I highly recommend checking out the resources down below!

Hot tip: if you like anime/manga/manwha art, try looking up art terms in Korean or Japanese. I found alot of good artists that way and alot have English subtitles.

Its really nice to see another person learning art on the internet instead of Just art masters. It gives a levels of relatabillity that can't be gotten easily

Alphonso dunn is a great artist! He's a science teacher and his channel focuses on linear drawings, adding texture, dimension, perspective, anatomy, shades and more with just one pen.

I remember when a bunch of kiddos in a discord told me they didn't learn anything about basic anatomy in their art classes and i went "bet" and did some art streams to help them because some of them didn't understand certain tutorials. I miss it 😢

Winged canvas is my favorite channel for anatomy and basically everything art-learning related. Not only do they have free videos online, but if you want even further instruction, they are an art school as well. The artist Jessie from winged canvas is my favorite, but they also have other instructors with different styles, strengths and backgrounds. You can watch their full streams for instruction and laughs, or just the stream highlights which tend to not be much longer then 12 minutes. They are very informative and helpful. And funny, too. Seriously recommend them to you and anyone else reading this.

I've started posting my art online again after taking a two-year break, and have been wanting to start enhancing my anatomy skills and watch more videos. This was such a good and useful breakdown! You have such an easy voice to listen to and really make me excited to start learning again. I added so many of these videos to my to watch list and I worked on a piece of art while watching this which was great!

During the part around 12:31 I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POINTING THIS OUT! I’m currently learning how to do anatomy and when I heard the tip of trying to understand the form in a 3d kind of way, it actually improved my anatomy a bunch ☺️ I’m still practicing but TYSM ❤

i revisit a lot of your videos frequently but ive been revisiting this video an extra lot lately, and i really wanted to thank you for it. this gave me the push to really start studying my art and trying to get better. i admire your work a ton and it inspires me so much and it made me want to get better. your videos always motivate me to try new things with my art and i even picked up painting again. i almost always have your videos in the background while i study, and it makes it more fun. your videos have even gotten me back into sketchbooking regularly, and being kinder to myself when they dont turn out perfect. my entire perspective has been changed in the best possible way and i just cannot thank you enough for sharing your art with us.

Kaycem is super relatable: I got injured halfway through an art course in 2019 (a tendinitis) so I had to rethink art but I’ve spent some time learning Blender & want to get back into 2D

What a thoughtful and jam packed video! Thank you for all of your resources, they are so helpful. I’ve not tried drawing figures for years, as tend to stick to plants and nature, but I feel after watching this I wanna get back into learning again ^_^ and yesss to nostalgic youtube content… ❤
