The Black Phone - Official Trailer
In Theaters June 24
www.theblackphonemovie.com/

The phone is dead. And itā€™s ringing.

Director Scott Derrickson returns to his terror roots and partners again with the foremost brand in the genre, Blumhouse, with a new horror thriller.
Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killerā€™s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesnā€™t happen to Finney.
Starring four-time OscarĀ® nominee Ethan Hawke in the most terrifying role of his career and introducing Mason Thames in his first ever film role, The Black Phone is produced, directed, and co-written by Scott Derrickson, the writer-director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Marvelā€™s Doctor Strange.

The filmā€™s screenplay is by Derrickson & C. Robert Cargill (Doctor Strange, Sinister franchise), based on the award-winning short story by Joe Hill from his New York Times bestseller 20th Century Ghosts. The film is produced by Derrickson & Cargillā€™s Crooked Highway and presented by Universal and Blumhouse. Jason Blum, Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are producers on the film, which is executive produced by Ryan Turek and Christopher H. Warner.

Looks genuinely creepy, however Blumhouse has to stop showing the whole freaking movie in the trailers!

I just went to the theater to see it about 4 hours ago and it was amazing. The child actors were literally amazing and sometimes I couldnā€™t even tell they were acting. The thriller was filled with a lot of suspense which made it very interesting to watch. Overall, the movie was great and I really enjoyed it

I think what made this movie so enjoyable for me was the fact that the characters are actually smart and not the common horror movie character type. I was genuinely so happy when both Fin and Gwen made smart decisions instead if making dumb ones that could've gotten them killed. Spoilers ahead, don't read if you somehow haven't watched it yet. Everything Fin did was just smart in general but I really gotta applaud Gwen because when she found the house, she got back up and rushed home to call the police. In a different horror movie, she would've barged in by herself. So props to The Black Phone!

Decent movie for a three minute runtime. Apparently there'll be an extended version in cinemas, too. Not sure what else they could add, though.

One of the best horror-thriller with an emotional touch.
This movie is quite unique cuz it's horror-thriller where there are both a serial killer and ghosts.

I like how the story isn't just about making people scared or feeling goosebumps but it also has character development and a family story which you can relate to.

There are several touching moments which makes the movie stand out from the rest of this genre.

Also love the performances by both the siblings actors.

I swear once you get to the part where the boy is kidnapped, you'll be hooked to your seat.

ok so I have some theory about Finn's mother. so we know how Gwen has those dreams and how it is shown that her mother experienced the same thing, and it's likely it was passed on to her. well I seen another theory that it also sort of passed on to Finn, and that's what allowed him to talk to the other victims, because he asked Billy did the phone ring for any of them, and he said that it rang, but none of them heard it, implying that the ghost kids tried to save the others, but they weren't able to communicate with the dead, unlike Finn. billy also mentions that the grabber himself hears it too, but pretends not to, so if this theory is correct, how can the grabber hear it?
well (and this is just a theory) if you look at Gwen's dreams and Finn ability to communicate with the dead, they all relate back to the grabber. Gwen has dreams about the grabbers victims, and Finn can talk to them, so there must be some connection.

and also, the grabbers really name is Albert Shaw, and in the books, Finn's full name is Finn Shaw, not Finn Blake. maybe Blake is his fathers name, and his mother's is Shaw, meaning that she is related to the grabber, most likely a sister, because the it's never mentioned in the movie (I haven't actually read the book yet lol) that he has any other family other than Max, but he still proably does.

so if Finn's mother is the grabbers sister, and she has the dreams, and the grabber can hear the phone, it's probably either started with them or was passed down to them. max may be able to do something too, but it might be somewhat traumatising so he dulls it with drugs, kinda like Klaus from the umbrella academy.

and to be honest all of them probably have some trauma, proably to do with whoever raised them.
like you don't just raise kids and one grows up to be a drug addict, one grows up to be a killer and also (if my theory is right) one kills themselves.
it's also mentioned that the grabber has lived in his house since he was a kid, and is familiar with the phone and how it doesn't work,

ok it's really late I'm just gonna finish this tomorrow sorry for any spelling mistakes <3

Usually when they give away the movie like this thereā€™s a huge twist. And Ethan Hawke doesnā€™t usually do a crappy script

Something about this is touching. The scene where the boy is practicing hitting with the phone and the ghost is there with him was pretty cool, but for some reason the idea that these kids were there to walk him through and help him succeed where they failed really hit hard. It was like they were his guardian angels.

I have to confess; I thought this movie would be bloody, childish and full of fake screams.

I loved it.

My absolute favorite movie of all time! Ethan Hawke was electrifyingly SCARY and the kid who played Finny and the kid who played Gwenny absolutely KILLED IT! Every actor in this film killed it! 10 out of 10! BRILLIANT!!! šŸ‘ šŸ‘ šŸ‘

Ethan Hawke and the child actors really raised the film to a higher level, especially the sister knocked it out of the park. One point in the film I really didn't know whether she was getting beat up for real by her dad or whether it was acting, because that was some of the most realistic crying I have ever seen.

I feel like the trailer wants us to believe this is the entire movieā€¦ but something tells me thereā€™s going to be so much more.

What everyone is missing about the movie and the kids is... the daughter has visions (like her mother did) and dreams about events that come true. But Finny the brother... can talk to spirits. The boys the Grabber killed can communicate with him because he too has that gift from his mother. They just got different versions of her gifts. Gwen has visions...Finny can see the spirits

If I was personally charge of making this trailer, I would have kept the concept of the kids behind the phone out of the trailer. The main kid getting kidnapped by a magician with a girl getting dreams to help him is already an idea that captures attention. The kids behind the phone could have been a neat twist.

A MASTERPIECE.Something many people didnt understand is that the 2 siblings have psychic powers, and they didnt know it till something of life or death happened, the guy can talk to the dead, and the girl have premonition abilities, mix this with a seven/zodiac thriller film, holistic plot and u got this masterpiece.
