20 years ago I was there on holidays and I met a lovely British couple looking to purchase property in Cyprus. He was a retired Bobby and I put him off buying as I maintained it did not make sense to buy in a divided country that could go tits up at any time and that corruption was rife also. Not a good idea to buy in Cyprus.

The Cypriots are beautiful people, you have just got the wrong attitudes, it's not the UK it's Cyprus, don't try and change it live with it you will be a lot happier. The ones moving back are going to have a shock in UK now. Very high crime, high prices, the murder rate in London is higher than New York.

the moral of the story is dont invest if you cant afford to loose it,i have lived in southern spain for 30 years now running a business with no problems ,but i was never greedy thinking and speculating that if i bought more i would make more,in the good days brfore 2006 everybody was buying second homes and so called retirement homes,the big question can you afford to loose it and in most peoples case no so why oh why are you playing the property market,because your greedy and think you will make huge amounts of money spinning it on a few months or years later and now youve been burnt so dont complain.same as investing in the stock market etc if you cant afford it with cash leave it alone

I WENT on holiday to Cyprus with my family for three weeks and had a good time looking ,shopping.eating Cyprus messe drinking wines and even eating Turkish delight (very fattening ) I have good memories of Cyprus.No body fooled us (luckily)

Stop misinforming people. Cypriots are close minded to foreigners if you don't speak Greek and lots of con people in Cyprus too. If you are not a Cypriot national then everyone is a foreigner. I am a British national and it was almost impossible to get things done as everyone I met were going to con me. Infact I was conned a sum of 150 euros for free information. They needed 3times rent cos I am a foreigner even though I am an European Union Citizen. Within 2 weeks I got so agitated and left Cyprus. It's only a holiday destination. Living in Cyprus should only be for Cypriot nationals. Let them eat n have the country to themselves. As they say no man is an island otherwise comes to ruins. Was surprise some Cypriot national beg for food or elderly pick up food from the bin. My reaction was priceless. UK is organised. God bless the Queen. Sorry If you don't like my review I only voiced my true opinion

A much better idea would be to rent at first just to see if you really like it rather than diving in head first and getting ripped off. I would never trust these property developers and lawyers as they are all corrupt shysters

Southern Cyprus I e the Greek side is ridiculously expensive!
But the northern Turkish part of Cyprus is so much better nicer and much much cheaper!!!
Just much better all round in the north!!!
