Steven Spielberg denounced the “rise of extremist views” on Monday and called for people to use “the power of empathy” against antisemitism or anti-Muslim hate. He also spoke out on behalf of both those killed by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7 and innocent women and children killed in Gaza.
“We can rage against the heinous acts committed by the terrorists of Oct. 7 and also decry the killing of innocent women and children in Gaza,” the filmmaker and Shoah Foundation founder said as he accepted the University of Southern California’s highest honor, the University Medallion. “This makes us a unique force for good in the world. And here’s why we are here today to celebrate the work of the Shoah Foundation, which is more crucial now than it even was in 1994.”

'To be a State you need to earn it'

Instead of gaining a popularity Oscar which you did, earn a real one the hard way.
I expected more from your speech, grit, not blinkered window dressing. Harsh, I thought is was, but no, sometimes you have to call a spade a spade and you did not.
The absence of the right for Palestinians to be Palestinians after the right to be Jewish, do you get it, thats the grit, The governement of Israel being a type of fascism, that's the grit. You dance around it, but that is not good enough.
PS If 'Schindler's List' meant anything to you Mr Spielberg, what should you be doing now if you were in Schindlers shoes?
The more that comes out about how Israel is operating, the more it appears that this was not a lapse of intelligence that led to the October 7th.
Observation of Israeli actions now point to a policy of deliberate starvation, and the shutting down of aid agencies providing food. No doubt Mr Spielberg will keep his head down and not rock the boat. How many aid workers need to be deliberately target before Mr Spielberg has something substantive to say?
