I confess, I fail to understand the hype about AI lately. It is all over the place, and yet it is just about statistics, algorithms and mathematics. Hence anything but intelligence, let alone self-awareness and comprehension. In that regard, I completely agree with your analysis. Whether it is an image or a text generator, it is just plain dumb under the hood, there's no one there.

Great video! Interesting topic 😎 We forgettiong the fact that humans required millions of years to evolve our intelligence. AI also requires many years to evolve and AI are getting assistance from us. AI will evolve to a point were they will be indistinguishable from human intelligence. AI has made huge advancement and will continue to reach milestones. AI will most likely have emotions and have a conscience because we will make sure AI has it.

Just found your channel from trying to get windows to make internet explorer have more windows. Anyway following you now because you aren't just an angry man and actually talk about different pros and cons.
Also, in regard to AI, I feel like we will one day make thinking AI we just are nowhere near that with our current technology. My fear is that this is the most dangerous time because we are basically having the AI decide on things that we never figured out like what do we want to do with someone who breaks the law, what punishment is the correct amount and all that fun stuff. Anyway, I can go On but don't want to start an argument Just my own opinion on Human ingenuity. Some day we will have the ability to warp to other stars because we can dream it. though in all honesty it is probably a ways off. I do feel we need to get some points in philosophy or maybe we need to approach AI from an emotional direction if nothing else it will give us another angle to see it from.
P.S. I loved the bicentennial man. This is the kind of AI we need to work toward.

There is a school of thought in physics that holds the view that thought process and conscience is not algorithmic. This thesis is based on Goedel's incompleteness theorems. So we will find out at some point in the future, if AI is just a topic of scaling up, or if the non-algorithm people are closer to the game.

Problem is, the ones we have to trust to do the right thing with this technology are the ones that can afford to push its boundaries, like goverments and large corporates. What are the chances neither of them get too curious, or greedy? Non existant in my book.
