Interesting enough your lock idea is very similar to a S-A switching componenent for a modern nuclear weapon, except the pins are electronically activated and when the proper code is applied it can rotate the safety shutter out of the way arming the weapon. š¤

Looking at your gear solution (4:39) I think you could make that work by adjusting the gear ratio so the bottom cylinder rotates faster than the top. Also, instead of using a single solid pin (blue in your illustration), you could stack short pins (red in your illustration) in that lower pin area. Just an idea š
