Let's say you're in Stratford Westfield, and for some reason desperately need to get a Thameslink train - your first thought might be to get Southeastern Highspeed to London St Pancras and change there. But is this still the fastest way? It's HS1 vs the Elizabeth Line!

Is Stratford International, Britain's most Pointless Station?

Maybe once HS2 opens then another service might be possible and maybe once a HS1 to HS2 link is built that might also help.

The HS service from SI To SP is pointless but it is fun, as well as its cost being a nice trivia question. I got to experience high-speed travel for the first time, and I wasn't too keen tbh.

Great Video. With these things there are so many Variables such as if you had got the High Speed straight Away. And not had to wait

I think it would be interesting to see it done as a race with one heading via the southeastern service and st p and the other heading via elizabeth line and first to a station further down on Thameslink like Gatwick etc. wins.

My wife worked near SI, she could have got a train to SP then transfer to Piccadilly line back to west London but the £7 (probably more expensive now) fare chargeable on the high speed line made the service unusable. They should have found out from Eurostar before building the station if they were going to use it or not. How much money was wasted in building that station?

You might have shaved a minute more off the return journey if you had used the lift on the SB TL platform at Farringdon rather than gone up to the surface level and down the escalators.

Stratford International is definitely an oddball, it's not included in the Travelcard (though I've managed to blag through the Southeastern gates at St Pancras once or twice!) and it doesn't really have any major purpose outside of serving the shopping centre and the odd sporting event. Maybe if the HS2 link had been built it would've finally seen international trains.

Not sure i agree with the methodology

Great video again! One thing to consider is St Pancras is further west than Farringdon so you are going further if you’re heading that direction on Thameslink. 😊

Not too useful. Journeys are unlikely to start from an Apple Store in Stratfield. And to save 90 seconds. Get a life!
