The situation really gives the word "geopolitics" a whole new tone. Geography can be ruthless sometimes.

"Those who did not cross the river should not laugh at those drowning", I watch every episode to learn a new quote, good work and very informative as usual

Pakistan is the only country that has successfully turned one of the most fertile river basins into a liability. Archeologists feared that IVC ruins at Mohendojaro would wash out but flood mechanisms and drainage they built 5000 years ago worked as intended and 'modern' Pakistan's infrastructure didn't.

Brilliant summarization. As an Indian it fears me that my country's neighbors are having so much issues rn. Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar.. I pray that the situation eases in pak and the average people live a normal life

As a US textile importer who works solely in Pakistan: this video spot on. This video really hit home as I know manufacturers are hurting. Many factory’s have been aggressively asking for orders due to major demand shortage. A real life example: Pakistani Cotton which is some of the best cotton in the world is more expensive to mill, and manufacture in country. Than Bangladesh whom imports their cotton from China…

I wish Caspian report had a nightly or weekly news show. I would definitely trust it more than cable/network news

8:39 what I hear: "Still worse, Islamabad will need to import 500,000 pounds of weed." My house is a major importer of that as well.

Something to mention about those forest fires is that after the burn sediment in the flood waters increased by orders of magnitude accelerating sediment accumulation in the reservoirs.

Looking at situations in Pakistan and Sri Lanka,it is safe to say that these countries are victims of a deadly combination poor leadership, misplaced priorities and Mother Nature ‘s wrath. Let’s hope that Pakistan figures a way out of its woes

Geopolitical catastrophes always move gradually and then suddenly...

Denmark have had great flooding disasters many years ago, up to 2% of the population dead in 1634 AD in the biggest one. But regulations and strict enforcement of them, minimum 300 meters from the ocean when building new houses, and industrialization, has made the same storm flooding 3000 times less deadly now days. Hopefully Pakistan will prioritize protective infrastructure in the future, and I’ve heard local residents has blocked some attempts, but even in a Democracy expropriation of land for important infrastructure can be necessary. As long as they are compensated for their land of course

I still remember when Pakistanis cheered when that chechen bheaded the teacher in France, and rioted so hard for a Boycott of France that they killed one of their own policemen, then then they burned a sri lankan man alive, it's hard to have sympathy for such a hateful people now

Maybe Pakistan can cut back their terrorism, nuclear weapon and military budget and use that for helping the flood victims

As a Pakistani, this is the best explanation of recent floods in Pakistan, that no other media outlet can give.
