High in the halls of the kings who are gone
Jenny would dance with her ghosts
The ones she had lost
And the ones she had found
And the ones who had loved her the most
The ones who'd been gone for so very long
She couldn't remember their names
They spun her around on the damp old stones
Spun away all her sorrow and pain
And she never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave
They danced through the day and into the night
Through the snow that swept through the hall
From winter to summer and winter again
Til the walls did crumble and fall
And she never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave
And she never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave
High in the halls of the kings who are gone
Jenny would dance with her ghosts
The ones she had lost
And the ones she had found
And the ones who had loved her the most

If you didn't read the books the song has two very relevant contexts ...
Jenny of Oldstone is Jon and Dany's Aunt who may or may not have been George RR. Martins version of Luthien.
The song, I believe, is singing about the "Disaster of Summerhall" in which Jenny or the "Ghost of Highhall" (one of them) warned the Targaryen Royal family about Night King and the coming of the Long Night. So King Aegon V and almost all the Targaryens attempted use some sort of Black Magic to hatch old Dragon eggs to begin a new life cycle for Dragons to be ready for the White Walkers. But something went wrong and a Demon got loose and killed all the Targaryens there ... except for one.
a very young Rhaegar Targaryen ... who, I'm pretty sure, was saved by Jenny which is why he wrote this song about her.
The second importance of this song is that years later at the Tourney of Harrenhal, Rhaegar first sung this song. And not only did it make Cersei (of all people) cry, but it also was then that Lyanna Stark fell in love with Rhaegar. So, Jon owes quite a bit to his beautiful supernatural great-aunt ... not only did she rescue Rhaegar that terrible night, but the song he wrote in tribute to her was the spark of love that led to his creation.

To me this song is very sad because reminds me of the Catelyn Stark dead in the red wedding. In the books, days before her caravan from Riverrun had passed oldstones, she remembered the song and also that she had camped in the Oldstones ruins when she was a child with her father and played Jenny with the flowers in her hair. After reading the following chapters and read about the massacre at the Twins, I went to listen to the song and it was wonderfully sad because now I always remember the red wedding when listening. PS this Florence version is magnificent 💜

Contrary to the tone, this is my happiest memory of the last season.
