The last time I was DM my characters accidentally ended up killing the main quest person, so I had to invent a whole backstory to guilt trip them into actually undertaking the quest. It was stressful but fun!

Thanks for making me cry, Quincy...my character has been going through a lot of grief right now from some party members leaving, and a betrayal from a few story arcs back that she still hasn't fully healed from. I think she needed that comfort.
