Alice & Kev was a very fascinating rabbit hole to go down and essentially served as a sims experiment. What if you took two characters, and stripped them of... everything? In this video, we simply read the blog, and see the happenings of these characters entire lives. As it goes on, we see that it feels more real than anything you'd expect.

I really enjoyed this. Feels like oldschool Internet Historian, back when he did little stories about little oddball things instead of tackling broader, non-internet topics.

This is all so funny to me: I read through this story years ago and I still laugh about the part where Kev walks off into the sunset forever (a great example of how poor the autonomy could be in ts3). It's actually a very common thing within the Sims community to plan out, play through, and screenshot stories then post them as a sort of serialized visual novel. The player here did a good job writing the story (and took great screenshots, especially for vanilla/basegame) but be aware this is ALL made possible by then. The actual gameplay and mechanics are just not that deep, and longtime players will recognize it as a simple 'homeless' style rags to riches challenge. It's fun to see how people outside of the community react to it - be careful if you go digging though, this one is really very tame.

I remember reading tons of sims blogs back in the day. The stories were never actually that deep, ts3 isn't capable of that, but the blog runners wrote the stories with so much dedication that it felt real. Man I miss these

I think the fact you sometimes branch out is really cool, something like this is really fresh and unexpected

I recall a more humorous Sims 3 playthrough involving a fat, hydrophobic clown and some kid being placed in a bizzare experimental compound. It may not have been as emotional as this tale, but it was definitely an entertaining read.

As a long time Simmer, I have doubts that this is fully caused by the game's autonomy. Sims AI has its limitations with complexity and establishments that could be made between people. However, it is still very commendable how she was able to shape the events into something that was actually compelling! I actually have a similar playstyle to her where imagination and personal visualization carries the game but not this extreme to what the OP is doing Great video though! Might download the save file for myself.. if it is still compatible for the final Sims 3 patch

That last bit of the blog where the OP talks about how Alice's life will change after her father's death and her emotions kinda did get to me. The whole thing kinda got to me, it was told in a way where it sounds almost realistic and its a little bit powerful emotionally.

Now I am imagining an emotional recap of a Call Me Kevin video (especially with the name Kev and the vague Jim Pickens resemblance). ETA: jokes aside this was very interesting!

Watching this while playing The Sims 4 ☺️ In the past 3 games there were quite a few NPCs that had interesting personalities and backstories, these two being among them. These things and the story progression system made The Sims interesting and it’s unfortunate that now, in TS4, it’s nearly gone and what remains is flat and boring.

Thanks for making this. I remember this blog. This is how a lot of ppl play the sims. That's what's so great about the game. U can explore human drama, wild scenarios with mods, or just be an arm chair architect. Not to be cheesy, but the only limit is ur imagination. Its long been my favorite game.
