In this video I show you 7 blues licks from 7 different guitar heroes. Each of these licks is useful to learn to help you unlock new layers and new tricks in your own guitar playing. Each lick has been selected to show off different areas of that artists guitar style while still making the licks accessible to learn regardless of how long you've been playing guitar.

In the video I am using a Stanford Guitars Crossroad Marquee, Stanford Guitars Crossroad Thinline 30 and a Magneto Guitars U-One Sonnet Modern. All the guitars are plugged straight into the Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 which is running via the Two Notes Torpedo Captor X. The overdrive is coming from the Walrus Audio Fundamental Drive.

Fantastic lesson! This is a great collection of licks and styles, thank you for walking us through all of these! Particularly enjoying working on Boom Boom. I've always loved that song and the groove is out of this world!

Something that’s missed, because electric guitar and blues developed together; as players we strain over learning these licks like a classical piece or a jazz standard; but players like Freddie King; Elmore James; or Hooker just had a complete package, vocals, style, moodiness, lyrics and what they expressed; that is; incalculable; from a players standpoint. It’s not learnable in a sense; it’s just who they were.

Much can be traced back to the blues, but say, Gates of Babylon? Um,,, no. Much is from other sources.
