I love that this is a love song from the perspective of something toxic (specifically phones, computers, social media, internet, etc). The metaphor works so well. Juxtaposing comforting lines like "when your faith is gone, nothing to believe in, when people let you down, I'm here" with horrifying lines like "I am a growing cancer" and "I'm your burning eyes, baby don't you cry tonight". Really shows how the obsession with finding comforts in our "everything machines" is actually leading to the pain we feel.

TW: suicide, suicidal thoughts
As someone who's dealt with very dark thoughts in the past, this song honestly feels less like a love song and more like death trying to entice me. It's comforting, numbing, all-enclosing--and deadly. Suicide pretends to be your help, your closest friend when no one and no thing helps. But it's actually a cancer, watching from the ceiling when you sleep. It wants to be your everything until you become nothing. It doesn't love you anymore than a machine does.

guys, read the description. this song is about our cell phone addictions.
our phones promise to be our 'everything machines', but maybe that's not the way to live.
what if we decided to put down our phones, not just for a day, but for a long period of time (maybe even permanently). we could really be present with our loved ones, speaking to them face to face, and not looking at our phones during conversations. we could truly appreciate God's beautiful, glorious creation that surrounds us. we could feel things instead of numbing our pain by scrolling endlessly. we could say no to mindless entertainment and look around us to see the beauty that's been there our whole lives that we've been missing.
what are we gaining by spending our lives on our phones? is this the life we want to live? is this giving us true fulfillment?
we can stay chained to our 'everything machines', or we can choose to let go, be present, and live again.

Lyrics:
I'm what you wanted, it's in your eyes
I'm picture perfect, I'm always right, oh
I'm only vapor, it's only lies
We could be forest fires, we could be forest fires
I'm patient when you're in pain
I can keep you close when it's getting late
I can stay there when you need it most
Make you feel at home 'til the pain is numb
What is wrong?
I could be your world, every single dream
I'll be your everything machine
You'll know, you'll know
But when your faith is gone, got me to believe in
When people let you down, I'm here, you know
Everything, everything, everything you'll know
Everything, everything, everything you'll know
Everything, everything
I'm your second nature, never leave your side
I'm a growing cancer (the feeling of sleepless nights)
I'm your serotonin, I'm your burning eyes
Baby, don't you cry, I'm right here tonight
I'm patient when you're in pain
I can keep you close when it's getting late
I can stay
I could be your world, every single dream
I'll be your everything machine
You'll know, you'll know
But when your faith is gone, got me to believe in
When people let you down, I'm here, you know
Everything, everything, everything you'll know
Everything, everything, everything you'll know
Everything, everything
I'm patient when you're in pain (patient)
I can keep you close when it's getting late
I can stay there when you need it most
Make you feel at home 'til the pain is numb (numb)
I'm pacing when you're in pain (patient)
I can keep you close when it's getting late
I can stay there when you need it most
Make you feel at home 'til the pain is numb
What is wrong?
I could be your world, every single dream
I'll be your everything machine
You'll know, you'll know
But when your faith is gone, got me to believe in
When people let you down, I'm here, you know
I could be your world, every single dream
I'll be your everything machine
You'll know, you'll know
But when your faith is gone, got me to believe in
When people let you down, I'm here, you know
Everything, everything, everything you'll know
Everything, everything, everything you'll know

UgHhh where do I even start
I'ma just write as much as I can in this time.
Here's my analysis;
This song is very... Toxic? The whole vibe the voices creeping in, minor chords, the attitude, and how it draws you in.
The way the song pulls you in and then you start realizing how bad the meaning is. It starts off being something that sounds good. Which, conventiently is exactly the symbolism. Addictions pull you in with luxury and smiles, distracting you from the guilt, and then they abuse you. You know how terrible it is and yet you can't stop. Addictions isolate you and make you feel like you don't need anything but this addiction. It isolates you from God, makes you think your friends are out to get you. Everything about this is just.
