Activision recently sent cease and desist letters to two Call of Duty mod teams, Xlabs and Sm2. These mods attempted to make playing the older COD titles safe and restore features and support the devs have abandonded. Yet another entry in how awful Activision is as a company.

The only "Call of Duty Killer" is Activision...

When you’ve lost the moral high ground to EA, you’re beyond saving

I really don't understand why gaming companies even shut down fan projects and mods. It straight up keeps games alive. There's no downside for them.

The amount of hackers in older games seriously needs to be addressed. I'm blown away by the fact these companies just leave them abandoned in that state.

I truly believe that Activision wants their older games to be unplayable. It forces players to buy the newest, more profitable "game".

I can't believe we live in a timeline where Activision is more EA greedy than EA themselves

The pricing on old Call of Duty is absolutely ridiculous and I’m glad you brought it up. I was actually anticipating Microsoft’s acquisition so that they could finally drop their games on GamePass for a reasonable price, but Sony is being a real hassle with that.

The fact Activision doesn't update these games yet still charges full price and only goes on sale for $20 when the games are so old is infuriating.

I loved when activision said, “it’s activisioning time!” And managed to make the problems worse.

And the fact that these old games are still $50-$60 is insane

if they are planning on dropping an mcc style compilation of old cod games, i feel like it would be genuinely beneficial to bring these modders on as developers for help.

Who would've thought that when EA got voted "Worst company in America" Activision would take that as a challenge instead of a warning.

Hey Act Man, love the work you put out, brother. I have a theory why Activision suppress their older titles. If players were to go back to the older titles, that means they newer COD (i.e MW1, Cold war, MW2) would not get as many players and thus best interest (from a corporate standpoint) to get as many people on the newer titles and in their BR modes to maximize profit. TL;DR : Old titles take away players from new titles and thus let hackers suppress old Cods to funnel the players back to new titles. I'm not a business major, so if anyone can chime in or correct my theory. Go for it! Have a good one, everyone!

My takeaway from this is that Activision wants people to pay $60 to install a backdoor on their PC.

I've had this conspiracy theory for years now that Activision employs these hackers on the older games so you're forced to buy and play the newer titles.

Activision Blizzard is clearly taking notes from Nintendo on how to be the most anti-consumer company.

I think removing that operator skin was a good move and not about the money because that skin would have cost money to get. And if they double down on the pride thing by doing that then it reinforces that statement instead of doing nothing
