For Hamburg it had to be a bit more, and after the Berlin version in 1749, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach added trumpets and timpani to his Magnificat for soloists, choir and orchestra.

Wonderful! Wunderbar! Thank you! (I see you use H numbers. I was a music history student of Dr. Helm back in the 70's. He instilled in me an appreciation for early music which is still with me to this day.)

This is wonderful! I have always been admirer of CPE Bach and his music, and understand why he was considered a very great master in his own right!

Magnificent rendition! This is the best C.P.E. Bach Magnificat I ever heard. Philipp Emanuel's inner Sanguineus and Melancholicus each have ample opportunity to express themselves in this masterpiece. His penchant for constant and sometimes reckless experimentation makes CPE a composer that might offer inspiration and guidance for our troubled and confused present historical moment. The grösse Fuge "Sicut erat in principio" never sounded so coherent and unified as here, in my humble opinion. This Fuge is a spiritual bridge between J.S. Bach and the polyphony of Haydn/Mozart/Beethoven.
