For anyone asking about helium gas and stuff, the reason the human voice changes pitch with different gases is because the gas itself is involved as part of the process of making your vocal cords vibrate (and the wavelength of a resonating standing wave in your sinuses at stuff). An electronic speaker will not change pitch in different gases because an electric current makes a magnet vibrate, and the gas is not involved in the process at all. (It even vibrates in a vacuum, the human voice obviously will not.) "They communicate by blowing air through their meat!"
