I don't think he explains it very well. It's akin to amor fati. Camus suggests Sisyphus is the ideal absurd hero. The absurd hero doesn't just accept things as they come, he finds freedom from suffering in the understanding that he cannot escape his fate.

The absurd is the disconnection between our desire to explain things rationally and reality itself. Sisyphus supposedly accepts that, he supposedly doesn't feel the need to place a motive for his apparently meaningless existence, mostly because the concept of meaning shouldn't apply. I wish he had explained something along these lines. There are other channels that explain this better, like Einzelgänger and Academy of Ideas. (https://youtu.be/_hJZEq61KeM) The book is quite amazing, but it is dense and unnecessarily difficult. It's a 60-pager, but it feels like 400 pages.

I love this little excerpt. Great metaphor to ride the wave of life without trying to control the ocean.

This idea of conservatism winning cold war without firing a shot isn't correct. Maybe rephrased as winning without commination in WW3, or nuclear war, is much more accurate. In Brazil, my country of origin, USA create a lot of tension and ultimately supporting financially the creation of a dictatorship against a democratic elected president, Jânio Quadros, that have some more progressive ideas, but not remote related to URSS communism. This happened in other central and south america countries as well. So, I would like to emphasize that at the same time USA was enjoying democracy, others countries was in dictatorship financially supported by USA. Maybe Michael is correct about the winning of conservatism, but I don't think without firing is anything close to reality.

Just read the book of "Ecclesiastes". King Solomon saw all of this and spoke the truth about life and the world we live in.

I think of it as if the gods doomed me to roll a boulder up a hill for eternity, then I got to figure out how to make it so I like rolling the boulder up the hill and make it become my favorite activity. That way the gods may have doomed me, but guess what gods? Rolling boulders is my favorite thing! So who is doomed now?

So the main idea is to realize what you can and can't control and architect your own individual fullfilment

Probably Sisyphus was just doing pilates with a little weight training and there was a hottie on the other side of the hill that he was checking out on the low.
