crafting an improvised black powder gun would be cool either a shotgun or rifle or pistol. 2 wood plank combined with metal pipe, then combine either rope or a sharpening stone to make either a matchlock which would add a delay when you pull the trigger or a flintlock which would be instant. The cool part is you could find ingredients to make blackpowder, also could be like 5 nails or scrap metal makes 10 lead shots if combined with a bullet mold and added to a fireplace for a few min, then you have bullets. anyhow i like to dream big

a single barrel break action shotgun and a break action pistol should be doable without a workshop but i dont thing an smg would. i would like to see some more crafting in dayz, maybe you you could weld some armor onto your car, modify guns, craft suppressors that don't exist for guns like the tundra etc. this type of stuff doesn't seem that unrealistic.

hell by the time you find all the parts i think you would of found a better working gun. Unless you take 90% of weapon spawns away, i dont see the point of it besides being "neat"

Problem is dayz devs will never do anything like this which is a shame they just keep plodding alone doing as minimal as possible.

Cool for a mod but doesn’t fit the Dayz lore which takes place 6 months after Day zero.
Would be dumb to water down the weapon quality.

Cool concept but doesn't make enough sense in my opinion. Nails would be useful for pins and that SMG is clearly stamped yet you didn't need any machinery to make it. Theirs not a single screw visible on that thing. This is like pipe guns from fallout 4 added to dayz. Also where the bullet seating it's just floating? Execution is simply lacking for sure was quick thrown together not thought out. Maybe they could work out the kinks and make it good though just not really impressed Bethesda did better and their bolts don't even line up with mags.
