I was under the impression that this song was about a young girl'sĀ misinterpretations of the terms "Meet Market", and "sleeping together". (I'm unsure of Ms. Spektor's age, but she must have been a little girl in the 80's). Then she grows up and finds out what they really mean. A song about innocence and the loss of innocence.

It's such a gift to be able to write every single song to be an allegory.
This is a song so deceptively happy but about something so much darker.
It's about how in the 80's casual sex was such an epidemic the girl who's become a sex addict who just can't seem to get her act together. She tries to become a prostitute "with her slip shown a little" but the cars don't stop. "it's been a long time since before I've been touched/Now I'm getting touched all the time".
Such a good song for something so so sad.
