Imperial Iranian Solider, Bodyguard to the Shah, Olympic alternate, Flees Iran on pain of death, 2 x Asst Olympic Coach for the USA, AAU Greco-Roman wrestling champion and gold medalist. All BEFORE a 37 year professional career ! What a life The Iron Sheik lived !

Rest in peace Sheik, not only do we know him as the crazy old man telling people to go F themselves and flipping them off but also an Iranian icon, legend and fantastic heel in the wrestling business. 🇮🇷🤼‍♂️🙏🕊

I'm not sure what I like more, the Camel Clutch itself, or the way he would shove his opponent into the mat when he broke the hold. Sheik was in a league of his own. An amazing athlete who will be sadly missed. May his memory be eternal.

Sheik was never a bad guy. He was playing a character that got tremendous heat.

Growing up watching this as a kid. Especially with the heated tension with Iran and events in the Middle East starting in the late 1970's carrying thru the 1980's. The Iron Sheik had legitimate heat and skills. Now, many years later. He's in my top 10 favorites of all time. Entertaining promos. Just looking back makes me smile to watch that whole era unfold. Them boots🤣🤣🤣🤣, he was an integral part of the success of WWF in the 80's.

Not only a great wrestler and great character and person, but he clearly had that kind of raw strength you don't see often anymore

My favorite of all time. He was the ultimate bad guy when the fans would fall for the patriotism stuff in Wrestling. Get him and Nikolai Volkoff waving russian and iranian flags, and a couple guys waving american flags, and you instantly had a feud. And it worked because the Sheik was the best at making the fans do what he wanted. He held the crowd in his hand. He spit, he was violent...perfect and an innovator. RIP to the best

One thing you have to know that, the Iron Sheik was probably one of the ONLY people in WWE that never used roids. As stated by Hulk Hogan, none of them can lift his clubs since he was much MUCH stronger than them, due to no steroid use.

My first ever live wrestling event as a kid. Iron Sheik and Nikolia Volkoff vs. Sgt. Slaughter and The Junkyard Dog at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in 1984. Epic match. Rest in peace brother.
