I think that every time it restarts, he has another "accident". The head injury and lyrics about "nightmares" indicate mental health problems (He has depression and had multiple suicide attempts). At first the family is in distress but the doctors say that they shouldn't worry about it (For the family it's a big deal because it's the first time but the doctors witness "accidents" like that on the daily so..). Every time it restarts we see the mother getting more and more used to it and finds distractions. "It's all a bit of fun until somebody gets hurt" means that people don't take mental health and suicide seriously until someone actually dies. (literally putting him into a coffin made out of ballons and dressing him up funny.. making a joke out of it). Ehhhh... Amazing video but the topic frustrates me so much.. :(

I think this video is about the small problems everyone has, it's not about mental illness or any physical injury (disregarding the music video), but about the small stuff that bothers us. An example would be like the nightmares, its not a big deal, he isn't going to die but it causes him to stay up all night causing him to move sluggish and always tired the next day (mentioned in the song). These kinds of small problems no one can be bothered about. So what if you have nightmares, I have nightmares too sometimes and you dont see cry about it. That's what most people would think, the small things that really start to itch after a long time. Its like having a pebble in your shoe it wont kill you but after walking miles with that little pebble in your shoe your feet will blister so bad you may not be able to walk any farther.
No one cares about the small problems you have, because everyone has these kinds of problems and would prioritise themselves first instead of a successful rich celebrity or the next door neighbour. After a while these small problems of our build up and end up affecting our happiness.
You are the only person that can help yourself, because everyone ells is busy helping themselves.

Idk if I'm looking into this too much but the video brings like a whole new meaning to the song. I kinda got that it was maybe about mental illness, but the fact that the video was advertising the NHS and he had a physical injury in the video and nobody really gave a shit, is it a message saying that mental illness is overlooked? At least that's the impression I got. Like looking at the video, it would be horrifying for doctors a d loved ones to act like they don't care if someone was actually in a car accident, and it should be the same if someone has a mental illness as well 🤔 I do love this band 🖤

I saw a few other people trying to understand the possible meaning of the song/music video and thought I would try working out my ideas here.
I think the music video is showing the apathetic and repetitive nature that occurs when people experience mental illness over a long period of time. The song talks about feeling lonely and having nobody to reach out to, so you accept the fact that this exhausting monotony will likely just exhist forever. The music video shows this by pushing the feeling of "I'm in a lot of pain right now, but it's easier to just go along with the ride than to try reaching out to people who are all distracted with their own lives."
The music video also shows the product of that mindset, where he is going with the flow and trying not to pay attention to the present issues and winds up hurting the people around him. This mindset is a great coping mechanism, though, because it essentially seperates yourself from the real world ("I don't need to know what's real or not no more") The song perfectly links the feelings represented by the music video with real authentic thoughts people have when they've "settled in" to their mental illness.
