The gh5 is the camera that taught me not to always want the latest and greatest. I've used it for filmmaking for the past 5 years and I've come to understand it's limitations and how to work within them. I get the best out of what I have and if I changed camera it would take a long time for that to be the case again. Having familiarity with the equipment does more to make me fastest and better at my job than a gh6 or a7siii would

I own a Nikon D7000 and a D500 BUT almost 100% of the time I shot my landscape PHOTOS with a GH4 (yes a GH-FOUR) and I would even show them to local photographers and they were pleased with them.
Back in April I bought the GH6 and that's what I use ALL the time. I was thinking of getting an Olympus OM-1 but it was backordered for the longest time and now that it is available I'm not in a rush.
But for me all my video and photography are done with the GH6 and a Mavic Air 2. The lenses I use for most situations are the Lumix 12-35mm 2.8 and the Olympus 7-14mm 2.8.
Thanks for the videos.

I've been using the GH4 and the GH5, for both stills and video and they're great. I believe their JPEG compression is very strong so of you're doing some important job shoot in RAW (which you should be doing anyway) as the image quality os very superior. People probably have judged the camera's quality based on the JPEGs 🤷
Invest in good lenses and you're good to go

Having gear is fun and nothing is wrong with that. But right now I do agree I love just using whatever works. The past year I really focused on using my phone and GoPro more and used the mobile versions of Lightroom and Premier and was content. I recently ordered the GH5mk2 and this will be a real test for myself if gear matters - or will I be content with my current setup? Who knows but it’s definitely worth discussing - thanks for throwing this conversation out there.

Great video Ryan. I am heavily invested the M43 echo system owning 3 G7's, two GH5's and one GH5 II cameras. Pretty much most of the time I use my Lumix 12-35mm Mark II Pro lens as it is great for both videos & photos. I would like to add a GH5S to my collection and maybe a GH7 or GH8 in years to come? If you're asking why so many camera bodies... I am building a new ManCave home studio and use all the DSLR cameras for various camera angles to switch between during my Live Stream shows. Thank you for being you. Cheers from Western Australia

There's a whole heap of brilliant photos right from the time's photography was invented. Just look at Degas's works on dancers. The only thing stopping a great shot is the photographer, not the camera. We would have died for a GH5 on Alien. A good way of learning exposure is to get an old pure mechanical 35mm SLR with 100 asa film and a 50mm prime, then study the greats.

I can‘t fully agree on this. I like the GH5 for filmmaking, but for things like vlogging (bad autofocus) and photography there are way better options. I’m struggling with it’s poor low light capability mostly, even though I have very fast lenses (1.3 to 2.8). The main problem is that using ISO above 800 is quite a mess.
