Too many people think photography is all about the camera and forget that the most important aspect is the person behind the camera. A camera is just a tool, if you don't know what to do with it, then it won't matter. Good clip.

What I think I need in pro cameras that my phone is lacking is the shutter speed that I need for the urban moments and candid family pictures that I usually aim for.

I had a photography mentor who told me this; a camera is basically box into which light focuses on a light reactive surface. Nothing more. The Technology will shift around you. Where the skill comes in is what you want your viewer to see or feel. It's about the stories you tell. So don't be a damn snob about what you use.

My only beef with m43 is the prices - man I saw a Panasonic 14-42mm x vario lens advertised on Ebay the other day for £200 ???.. two weeks ago I bought a mint Canon eos 7D and a Canon 50mm F1.8 STM lens for £220... !!!... I have no doubt that the quality is excellent on Olympus and Panasonic systems but I'm not wealthy enough to afford them !

It is true that skill comea first. But at 85mm headahots,a xx to xx kit is gonna perform bad compared to 24 105l f4, and the latter will perform way worse than 85 f1.2.
But from a camera perspectjve, I use mft and a canon 5d mkiii. I dont feel the need to upgrade.
Saying all of that, a skilled person will likely do better using a zoom conpared to me shooting a 85mm f1.2.

My old canon 450d / entry level dslr forb500$ in 2010 still has better looking photos than my iphone 14..

Want skill? Try my 4x5 pinhole with rise, fall, shift and tilt. yea full movements. It makes a real 4x5 look like a walk in the park.

I used to blame lack of proper equipment for my early works, but now, I'm able to put out quality results with the same equipments. Experience is the epitome of good work.
